is my new room!
Went only a couple of places today. Suzhou is basically known for the parks while Hangzhou for the lakes, hence the saying , Up theres heaven, down theres suzhou and hangzhou.
The Humble Administrators Park (lets call this park 1)and the Lion Park/Hill/forest whatever(park 2). Had a nice surprise when i was at park 1 because its flanked by the old rivers that defined old suzhou life. its called the Venice of the East anyway. In the park itself, the sheer number of tourists was irritating, but i can imagine how sweet it is when there nobody around u. the ponds, trees, greens, rocks and buildings are done up very delicately to achieve a very enchanting harmony. its both gorgeous and amazing.
this must be where they used to play the zither at dusk. i can so imagine the mood.
is water.
I went for the boat ride in the river. the ride costs 150rmb per boat, but there only me. i waiting for others , but in the end its just me. managed to bring the price down to 120. still ex. but its worthit. the ride on the boat is a must for anyone coming to suzhou. get to experience how life was like. The boatman was telling me some history, apparent the river is 2500 yrs old. and he sang me an old suzhou folksong! amazing. i really liked it, tho he cant sing very well. the ride was the highlight of my stay there really.
Next went to park 2. its got a nice hstory to it and the main attraction are the grotesque rocks that decorate it. very interesting. emperor qianlong loves it too. rather small place so i did not spend too much time there.
went for lunch and found a starbucks yay! oh and i was at this pub right, and its damn irritating, i was sitting there with my drink, im the only customer, and suddenly they offed the music, and had a meeting right behind me. wtf right. no respect for the customer. irritating.
am off to shanghai tomorrow!
is puppet theater!
